The new rage in online analytics is to track the behavior of individual users on your website. Aggregate data is not all that useful when it comes to improving conversion rates, among other things. Third generation analytics tools like KISS Metrics allow you to assign information to each person that visits your site so you can track their behavior. Before you think this sounds like “cookies gone bad,” the user has already agreed to submit their name and information to your site–you simply track what they do when they get there. You can measure their behavior on as many “events” as you’d like and, in general, we find this to be helpful as long as you keep it contained (under 100 events).
If you have over 50,000 page views a month, we highly recommend a $150.00 month subscription to this service until Google Analytics gets more up-to-speed with its “people views." Google 360 is being seriously looked at as I write this.
