Brian Solis has done some of the best work on "Conversation Density" that I've seen. To daily practitioners of conversation-centric marketing automation (Cision, Meltwater) his name is well known.

What is not discussed enough, however, is the impact of "content bingeing" on the conversational prism (f or more on this go here ). The conversation prism is used to analyze the patterns of communication that occur across social channels. With the advent of much better "content" which we prefer to call "campaign driven content" you can capture and hold the attention of a discrete cohort for an extended period of time--and thereby "skew" the prism.

Looked at another way, when you have a campaign that people talk about and respond to, they spend more time with you and less time "social surfing." This is easy to prove by simple metrics such as session time. By blending in behavorial tracking metrics like KISS Metrics you begin to track those customers in great detail--provided you deploy within strict ICANN guidelines.

In short, binge branding can be profitable both on an aggregate and individual level. Good branding today is best consumed like a bad habit.
